Oh Christmas Tree..

I'm {well really my husband is} usually schlepping home the largest tree on the lot {for me}. I love an over sized, un-groomed, natural looking tree. Our house has the ceiling height to handle it, but this year I'm feeling very preggers so I'm not sure I envision myself standing on a chair {or ladder for that matter} to decorate a 9 1/2' tree. I've been contemplating using a round zinc table in my living room to display a pretty table top tree instead! There's always next year for the 9 footer right? Then I came across this adorable table top tree on Brown Button today. This image may have sealed the deal for me. Who knows I may cave at the tree lot on Thursday and end up with a another big mama.....;) We shall see...

What's Cookin?

Keep your Thanksgiving day dinner table simple {because I'm sure you're as busy as I am} + earthy with natural decorations and layered plates in warm color tones..
Are you cooking the whole Thanksgiving she-bang? or just helping with a side dish..
I'm just helping out this year, so I've decided to bring whipped sweet potatoes a la Ina Garten..click the cookbook below for the easy recipe!

while we're on the topic of dinners..The Obamas' hosted a state dinner last night..{wouldn't you just love to experience an event like that just once in your life? } here are a couple photos via The Huffington Post. Michelle's elegant gown was appropriately design by Naeem Khan..

HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY!

Reader Request....Sweet Gum Wreath..

The "creative how to" season is upon us. I posted this textural sweet gum wreath last week..Here are the directions on how to make it. I would include the large satin ribbon, it adds a touch of color and softness.
Keep me posted on the results, maybe I'll even try to make one myself. You can purchase sweet gum through Dry Nature.
