Project Sneak Peek

Isn't this finial gorgeous?
I love transforming furniture..It's a very important part of the creative process for me! I have a great set of craftspeople lined up who help turn my ideas into reality. Here is a snapshot of one of my latest project pieces for a client. It is a vintage Chippendale chair. We had it sprayed and sealed to match a turquoise necklace I happening to be wearing the day of our design meeting! I love the details of this chair, the finial, the color the, final seat fabric. I was very happy with the end result, as was my client! (which is the most important part of my job!) Be sure to check out my website in a few weeks. I am going to include a section that actually sells some of my vintage transformations and along with a small custom furniture line...eeek..I'm very excited about it..

BEFORE SHOT

Fabric on seat: Kathryn Ireland, Style: M6550
Here's another piece of the project. We had the panels for the client's credenza covered in one of my favorite wall coverings..

This wall covering is simply amazing isn't it? It comes in a number of colors and is part of the Osborne and Little vintage collection!

sorry about the blurry image..but you get the point..right?

Fabric Info: Image one: this is the most gorgeous floral print, there are a number of other flowers throughout the fabric : Kravet: Hemiola -715, Image two: Rubie Green - Tillinghast, if you haven't ordered from Rubie Green yet, I highly recommend their fabrics, they're durable, green and of course graphically beautiful, Image three: Designer's Guild, Berkeley D1400-03 - seat cushion fabric.

Bits and Pieces

My pregnancy nesting continues..I've been working on a slew of projects around my house. I'm sort of doing bits in a number of areas but I really want to FINISH everything. {i have three month's left..eek}. So here's this weekend's project {mind you I have to do most of this during my son's nap time. Baby sitter time is used for my business and teaching}.
WHICH COLOR DO YOU LIKE?
I am painting the above piece this weekend. It's either going to be black or turquoise. If I go with black - I own a turquoise lamp to use with it. If I go with turquoise, I'm not sure what I'm going to do..there is a lamp I like from Anthropologie . I'm definitely using one of these pulls from Muffs Hardware , they are larger and more interesting then the current hardware.

Here's a little peek at my dining room. I still need to finish a number of things before I post the entire room. {i also need my photographer to take the photos with the proper lighting - sorry about the blurry image} Aren't those lamps great? I found them at Home Goods..

Decisions, Decisions..Let's talk lighting

{excuse my premature post earlier} I'm using the newest layout version on blogger, so I need to adapt.
DINING ROOM
So I promised you I'd share my exciting news on Friday, it's the reason I am in crazy nesting mode.{besides the Fall weather} I'm pregnant!! I didn't find out the baby's sex, so stay posted for my nursery options for both a girl or a boy. We're thrilled with the news, but I def. need the next four months to get my home ready!! {yikes}
I have long loved the light fixture in Ruthie Sommers first kitchen {posted in the first issue of Domino}. So I've been on the hunt for something similar for my dining room. I came across the first fixture pictured at Pieces but it was $895.00 and has now sold. So this weekend I was thrilled to find out that I won the Tole Palm leaf pictured below on ebay for..Can you guess how much??? Only $80.00!!. It needs a bit of tlc and some clear round bulbs but I think it will be perfect. {and so was the price}

Now onto the KITCHEN
My chalk board wall in the kitchen is finished {it looks great, I'll post when the area is finished} now I need to find a pendant to hang over the dining table. I want to cast a warm light, to off set the recessed down lights, so I thought a linen pendant would be a smart choice. I've narrowed down my options, here they are. Which do you prefer? I know it's hard to choose because you haven't seen the space.
The Maurice pendant from Jonathan Alder {love this, I wish it cost a bit less}
This is a great custom pendant from Pieces, Inc. but it's def. out of my "snack bracket". Don't get me wrong I wish I could purchase half of Lee Kleinhelter's shop for my home. Be sure to check out their fun new blog, it's full of before + afters. My dream is to someday house my design firm within a smaller shop much like the fabulous Pieces. {hopefully within the next few years}

Another project + I would love your help!

Your basic sunbrella fabric

Brighter Turquoise

If an interior designer isn't working on someone else's projects, {he or she} is usually in the throws of a personal creative venture. Back in July as a rookie blogger, I did one of my first posts on the chair below. I found these on my way to the beach one day. I screamed to my husband "stop the car". This isn't a rare occurrence in our lives, as I often find myself picking up stranger's castaways. None the less, he still thinks I'm out of my mind.

I loved the bamboo detailing of these tired chairs. The bottom photo is what they originally looked like. I have since painted one glossy black and now need to choose an outdoor fabric for all seven of them.

That's where you come in!! I can't decide what to do. My choices are above. I love the idea of doing a simple solid turquoise, or maybe even yellow but apart of me thinks the quirky bright green bird print might be fun!! {The website touts it as being very "high-end", whatever that means in the outdoor fabric world - softer I guess} WHAT DO YOU THINK? Oh and these fabrics are all well priced, I don't want to spend a fortune on fabric. I look forward to your thoughts!

REHAB

Before

I have a passion for vintage furniture. As a designer, I clearly love transformations, so when the two come together with a bit of sweat equity. I'm thrilled. Here's recent rehab of my own.
I found this baby on the side of the road..a little paint, coral velvet and {also a favorite} nickel nail heads...Voila drab is fab...

Currently working on..

I've been working with a lovely family on the interior design of their home. It's located in a beautiful coastal town north of Boston and is situated directly on a bluff, overlooking the ocean...I was finalizing the living room fabric and rug color palette, so I thought I'd share a quick peek with you. I drew inspiration from the deep blues of the ocean, the bright greens of the sea grass and the warm grey tones of weathered wood. I'll also layer in brushed nickel, white and limed woods and of course a little something to throw the room off.
I'll be sure to post the final project photographs...

Fabrics: Cowtan and Tout, Jim Thompson, Celerie Kemble, Brunschwig and Fils, Lee Jofa-Kelly Wearstler, Creation Baumann, Schumacher, Carpet: Stark, Trim: Kravet
