From Place To Space: Blogger Fun In Munich

First of all: I am sorry for not taking you to a new destination today but staying local. Yep, this time I am Munich bound. But I had a very good reason to stay in Munich: I was expecting one of my favorite fellow bloggers and good friend Will aka Mr. Bazaar from London for a visit. Moreover, we had a little but totally international blogger meet-up by welcoming our Canadian fellow blogger Tim from Designmaze on Sunday, too.

You might remember Will's and my adventures through xmassy Munich last year. This time, we explored a more summery version of the city and discovered a few exciting places. Friday was the best time for an after work drink and chat at the stylish Aroma Kaffeebar in Munich's hip Glockenbach quarter, whereas Saturday was reserved for a more extensive shopping & shooting endeavour throughout the city.

We started the day with a good brunch at the lovely Café Fräulein with its charming vintage décor and shabby chic feel. I love the fact that styles that do not necessarily reflect your personal taste (like in this case) can nonetheless enchant you when they're well executed. After the refreshment we headed to a few inspiring stores and snapped along the way. We foraged through the vintage furniture store Delikatessen and encountered some amazing retro light pendants and rustic industrial stools.

To counteract the somewhat industrial and rustic feel of the first store, we headed over to Ladoug - a tiny boutique with a well chosen selection of beautiful furniture, textiles and decoration accessories, many of them with an artisan origin. The overall feel is more natural, ethnic and full of textures. A great place to satisfy all senses!

Walking through Munich downtown dragged us involuntarily to some of the high street stores, too. We hopped into Butlers to examine their colourful table settings and once again I fell in love with the Hamam inspired table cloths and picnic blankets. Saturday night was rounded up by a fantastic dinner in one of Munich's 'places to be' Theresa restaurant. I blogged about that restaurant here and believe me - if you ever come to Munich, you will want to go there and satisfy your palate and your design craving eye.

Sunday was reserved for a meet-up with our blogger friend Tim and we took him for a drink and walk through Munich's several parks to enjoy the war sunrays and a leisurely Sunday. And in between all these undertakings, Will and I managed to style up my little abode, buy some extra props and shoot my apartment for an upcoming little home story. So stay tuned! Enough for now, happy Monday friends!

Ideas For A Happy Weekend

Happy weekend, friends! This one will be pretty busy and inspiring here in Munich. After last year's winter expedition in Munich, my fellow blogger and friend Will aka Mr. Bazaar of Bright.Bazaar is inspiration chasing with me in Munich. I have prepared a long list of great cafés, restaurants, and interiors stores. All to be carefully examined, photographed and covered for a Munich special. I won't reveal more, Mr. Bazaar will tell you in due time.

So while we will be hopping from one location to the other, giggling like nuts, shopping like maniacs, and snapping like weirdos, I wish you all a lovely weekend wherever you are. And don't forget to add a bit of colour and happiness!

From Place To Space: A Summer Walk In Munich

On Mondays, you are quite used to my little endeavours and adventures throughout Europe and sometimes beyond. This time, I've decided to stay local. I've thought it is time to show you a bit around my hood. Munich is very charming in summer. It is a leafy city with lots of green spaces. We have huge parks, a river with alpine waters, biking and jogging trails, little forest and plenty of lawns to enjoy the sun and a good book.

So I've put on my walking shoes aka flip flops, charged my iPhone and off I went for a little summer walk through Munich. I've snapped around and here are a few shots of my little cruise. On the way, I've discovered a new and adorable decoration store with a café called 'Livingroom'. They have a beautiful assortment of mostly French brocante - a true heaven for anyone in love with the rustic French country style or shabby chic. And the café serves uh-mazing homemade cakes and creamy coffees. After this little walk I feel refreshed and invigorated to kick off a new week. Happy Monday everyone!

Being A City Blogger For 'Schöner Wohnen'

My little quest to conquer the world continues - and now please lots of laughter everyone! So, after my opener let's get serious. Very serious. Cause I was approached by Germany's leading interior design magazine, 'Schöner Wohnen', and asked if I'd like to be a city blogger and present some of my favorite addresses from Munich on their site. I was flattered, I admit. And yes, I joined this fine bunch of German bloggers and answered 11 design oriented questions regarding Munich. Moreover, I had the opportunity to present a favorite location:

I picked an 'art gallery gone bar gone fashion boutique gone midcentury furniture source'. Yeah funky description, right? The gallery is located just opposite of my office and it's a  mixture of art, fashion, bar and midcentury furniture (that can be bought there!!!) drew my attention long time ago and I keep going back there. I took a few pics of the location and wrote my little story about it. For all you peeps who speak or read German, here is the link to my interview and to the gallery report. I hope you like the outcome!

Interior Candy: 'Theresa' Restaurant In Munich

Many of you know already that I am living in Munich, Germany. Now I thought it might be a good idea to present some cool places I discover in my hometown from time to time. That is being the case with a fantastic new restaurant called 'Theresa'. I started hearing this kind of typical city rumours when a restaurant is about to open and after it's glamorous opening: people talking about the new 'place to be', discussing its design, its food, its owners, its guests. This was just what happened with 'Theresa'. I was jumped to their website to get a first glimpse of this so much rumoured place and I loved everything I saw there: The interior design is super cool, urban, industrial (oh my, do I love those pendant lights and how matching are those Tolix stools!!) yet welcoming and warm. The menu sounds more than luscious. But above all: the rumours are beyond promising. Now I am lucky enough to be in charge of organising a business lunch with one of my clients in early January. Guess which place I picked? Right. Soon I will have a date with the famous 'Theresa'.

From Place To Space: Munich With Mr. Bazaar

Today I am inviting you to a very special trip, one where I don't have to travel but be a happy host. Yes, I am inviting you to Munich today, the city I've lived in for the past five years. In order to give you the authentic feeling of being a guest in Munich, I invited one of my best blogger friends over, Will Taylor aka Mr. Bazaar from Bright.Bazaar. He spent a weekend in Munich and I was more than pleased to show him 'my city' after we'd met up a few times in London. From the start I knew this will be a bright and happy weekend! And so it was! Join us on a festive and inspiring day through the capital of Bavaria! Buckle up!

To boost my guest with energy, I took him for a good and yummy breakfast to one of my favorite spots in Munich, the Aroma Bar. We not only had a great breakfast but also enjoyed the creative and inspiring atmosphere of this shop-restaurant combo and took so many photos until the store owner approached us (who was very pleased we did all of this for our blogs).

Around noon it was time to take my guest to a solid and inspiring shopping trip. We strolled over Munich's oldest and most popular market, the Viktualienmarkt, and bought a few Christmas deco goodies (after all, we are human beings, right?) before we hit a few adorable interiors and decoration stores in the city centre like La Brocante, Depot, Obacht and La Maison Francaise, just to mention a few.

After a good retail therapy it was time to whet our appetite for art and culture. I took Mr. Bazaar to a recently opened gallery called Ponyhof Artclub where we enjoyed the photography exhibit, sipped a few cocktails and coveted the mid-century furniture. Later on it was time for a visit to my favorite Munich based museum, the Museum Brandhorst. A great selection of contemporary art by big names like Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst appeased our desire for art.

The late afternoon was reserved for some compulsory sightseeing. Parks, architecture, famous squares and monuments were on the itinerary. We also climbed the famous Alte Peter tower (Old Peter's Tower) to have a fantastic bird's view of downtown Munich. A little coffee break in the beautiful Hofgarten park was included of course.

After walking around and dusk had fallen, it was time to warm up with mulled wine at one of the many Christmas markets. We enjoyed the festive fairy lights, illuminated Christmas trees, enchanting wintery scents, the joyous atmosphere and lots and lots of handmade Christmas decoration and ornaments that caught our eye (and camera lenses).

So, did you like our little 'From Place To Space' trip to Munich? If you want to read and see more jump over to Bright.Bazaar. Hope to welcome you soon for our next happy trip!

Ideas For A Happy Weekend

Big news: This weekend is not only going to be 'happy' but also 'bright'. I am hosting Mr. Bazaar aka Will Taylor from Bright.Bazaar this weekend and showing him the cheers and joys of festive pre-Xmas Munich. Our agenda is pretty tight: Christmas markets, shopping, sightseeing, shopping, museum, eating, coffees, sightseeing, Christmas markets, restaurants and Christmas markets. I am pretty excited to show Will around and introduce him to the city I've been living in for the past five years. And I am sure we won't have just fun, but we'll have many more creative ideas for our blogs. And if you wonder what happens when Mr. Bazaar and Mr. Happy meet up for a happy & bright weekend - stay tuned, I will share our ideas and experiences here! Have a great one, folks!
