At Your Leisure - A Zine To Swoon

Finding inspiration at your leisure. Leaning back and taking in colours and stories at your leisure. These are the precious moments when we grant ourselves those quite moments with a great magazine to refuel our aesthetic spirits. And one amazing magazine just arrived from the US west coast to Munich - the fourth and final issue of 'At Your Leisure'.

'At Your Leisure' is a special project by J3 Productions of my fellow blogger friend Jonathan Lo of 'Happy Mundane' and after I'd seen the teaser video for the new issue I just knew I need to get it! The issue resolves around the theme 'Flow' and features among others an interview with artist Karen Kimmel and a peek into her great studio shot by yet another blogger friend, Laure Joliet of 'At Home At Home'.

I was totally smitten by the amazing photography, the divine colour inspirations and the adamant power of visual storytelling. Here I am sharing some of my favorite pages and if you feel inspired too you better click on and order one of the limited 500 copies here. I have issue no. 42 by the way. A great extra: each issue is hand signed and comes with a special gift. Yeah!

Happily Ever After: Flair Magazine

How about a brand new fashion & home magazine to kick start the approaching weekend? We all love a good read for a relaxed weekend, right? Here we go. With Germany's 'dernier cri' on the magazine racks: Flair Magazine.

Flair is sassy magazine combining fashion, beauty and interiors. While I do indulge in the latter, I am pretty sure many stylish ladies won't neglect the first two sections. Flair's cover suggests a high-gloss lecture, but once you open it and touch the first page you will sense the tactile feel of raw, eco-friendly paper that is pretty much zeitgeisty. Glancing on, you will enjoy not only a visual feast but a tactile one, too. Like!

The first issue sparkles with a plethora of features: a trend radar suggests goodies for the ongoing month, the fashion category covers the looks of the season while the beauty column outlines the latest trends and products in cosmetics. My personal focus is on the home section though: A New York penthouse with vibrant colour accents, the eclectic home of Margherita Missoni, and statement sofas to awe your guests - quite a selection to please an interior loving eye.

Personal verdict: A great first issue with coverages that are spot on. Personally I'd add a few more pages to the home category, but then again I am interiors obsessed. Grab a copy if you're in Germany or have a look at your international newsstand. It's worth a look. Happy Friday!

Being A City Blogger For 'Schöner Wohnen'

My little quest to conquer the world continues - and now please lots of laughter everyone! So, after my opener let's get serious. Very serious. Cause I was approached by Germany's leading interior design magazine, 'Schöner Wohnen', and asked if I'd like to be a city blogger and present some of my favorite addresses from Munich on their site. I was flattered, I admit. And yes, I joined this fine bunch of German bloggers and answered 11 design oriented questions regarding Munich. Moreover, I had the opportunity to present a favorite location:

I picked an 'art gallery gone bar gone fashion boutique gone midcentury furniture source'. Yeah funky description, right? The gallery is located just opposite of my office and it's a  mixture of art, fashion, bar and midcentury furniture (that can be bought there!!!) drew my attention long time ago and I keep going back there. I took a few pics of the location and wrote my little story about it. For all you peeps who speak or read German, here is the link to my interview and to the gallery report. I hope you like the outcome!

New Read: Couch Magazine

Yesterday, the brand new home and fashion magazine, Couch Magazine, launched in Germany. The pocket-sized lifestyle mag is the latest gem from one of Germany's biggest publishers, Gruner+Jahr. The glossy magazine focuses on homes and interior decoration combined with fashion and beauty topics that address its core target group, young women. Although I am not part of their core target group, I still enjoyed the first issue. Here are some peeks into it, for more you have to buy a copy!

What did I like most? First, I absolutely adored to find some of my favorite international bloggers like Joy of Oh Joy, Grace of Design Sponge, Emma of Emmas Blogg and Ez of Creature Comforts featured on a page dedicated to apps and blogs. Then, I loved the small apartments presented with shopping tips to "steal the style". A little designer retrospective gave good background knowledge while a colour consulting helps readers steer through the oceans of wall colours and painting.

So, after going through the little magazine from cover to cover, what is my humble verdict? I like it. And I'll buy it again. I'd love to see more homes, more blogger news and - well, I am free to state any wish here - I'd love to see a little section or a page dedicated to male readers. After all, some of us do love interior design and home decoration just as dearly as our more beautiful counterparts. Don't we Will, Jon, Bradford, Dab, Jason, Gerard, Stu...?

The success story of e-magazines continues: The latest beauty in a range of inspiring e-mags is the UK based '91 Magazine' published by Patchwork Harmony. The cover already guides the way to a happy and delicate journey through interiors, design, crafting, and styling. Pastel hues, delicate patterns, and adorable photography dominate the launch issue and pursue the concept of inspiring its readers to more attention towards the beautiful things that surround us. Browse through 54 pages of creativity and ideas here. My personal favourite in this issue: the wonderful home tour starting on page 35!
