How To Decorate New Designs pattern For Pillow at Your room

Welsh designer Sian Elin Thomas will be launching a new collection of textiles and wallpaper at this year's London Design Festival. Tent London will be the official launch of her new range including cushions, tea towels and wallpaper. Surface pattern designer Sian Elin Thomas has created a new range of wallpaper and textiles to mirror her fascination for the built environment.

After Spending six months of the year , recent travels to India and throughout the Mediterranean are all reflected in her new collection. Influenced by the Islamic and Moorish architecture around her, Sian's designs feature bold hand-drawing and colourful detail. Sian is interested in how textiles and wallpaper can bring the outside world to the inside, and the way in which people interact with their interior and exterior environments.

This collection definitely has my 'happiness aproval'. Cheer up your home with Sian Elin Thomas!

New Collection: Mariska Meijers

She's just back from the famous Maison & Objet design show in Paris where she presented a vivid colour injection for truly happy homes - I speak of Amsterdam based designer Mariska Meijers. Now since I couldn't make it to the Paris Maison & Objet and the London Design Festival in one month, I asked Mariska to send me some pics of her new collection that comprises textiles and tray tables.

The visual impact of the 'Jungle Fever' collection is striking - the design seems to mix ethnic patterns with spacey lines and ties it together with flashy colours. For those who love a more traditional approach, the Ikat line is just right. Whether it's the micro Ikat print or the arty painted Ikats with warm shades - happiness for the sofa or bed is guaranteed!

For more pieces and information check out Mariska's colourful website. And now go and get some colours to brighten up this Thursday!

5 Happy Inspirations: Happy Treats

Treat yourself. That's what I keep telling myself. I guess it is a sort of excuse for giving in when I spot something nice and new for my home. But sometimes I don't even have to buy something new. Sometimes I just have to dig into old things, to go through my mum's basement to discover some old and forsaken gems. That's what I did last weekend. Here is a little happy compilation of new & old treats that have one thing in common: the power to add happiness to a home!

1. Hand painted linen tablecloth from Shop Terrain. Oh yes!

2. The new collection by Rie Elise Larsen is just a happy feast! I love her cheerful paper designs.

3. My first piece of hand made ceramics. A bowl I made in school back in 1992. Happy memories!

4. I've stocked up on new washi tapes. I got these from my Swiss blogger friend Renate of Baumhausfee. Thank you my dear!

5. I heart these cushions as seen on Wendy Polish.

A hearty Wednesday, folks!

Bedroom Inspiration: Autumn Lust

I might sound a bit annoying but I have to repeat it over again: the change of season gets me all excited! Even when we bid summer goodbye, I am in a happy state of mind. I am looking forward to the chilly nights with crisp air, to my favorite extra blanket to cuddle up, to rearranging my home decoration and set a mellow colour tone in my abode.

This bedroom above has caught my eye today. Even though I've always declared the colour brown as my least favorite unless we speak of coffee or chocolate (to drink and eat of course), I sort of feel the need to revise my decision. Brown hues can be so stylish, serene and comfy like in this pic. Combined with soft grey and black, this looks more than inviting. And I adore the moon prints - I have a similar one at home that I found here.

Are you getting ready for autumn?

Style It Up: Bathroom Idea

When I get up, it's the first room I enter. Before I go to sleep, it's the last room I leave. The bathroom. Interior design and decoration doesn't stop in the living room, bedroom, or kitchen. A beautifully styled bathroom is actually a must: it pays aesthetic tribute to the bathroom's purpose - perpetuating personal hygiene, beauty, and aesthetics.

The picture above got me swooning over a black and white schedule for a sleek and stylish bathroom. Whether you are going to redo the entire bathroom by choosing new tiles, faucets, sinks, showers, tubs, and furniture or you're going to add a few new accents like accessories, textiles, and decoration items: decide on an overarching theme and scheme, and work your way until you've reached your aesthetic standards. And then enjoy spending hours dedicated to your personal aesthetics.

5 Happy Inspirations: Little Rewards

Do you need yet another blanket? More tumblers and cups? Probably not. But life would be a tad dull and monotone without those tiny little goodies that we reward ourselves with. The majority of us works hard - in offices, at home, as employees or running our own businesses. And its the little rewards that keep us running, working and accomplishing tasks. We can't reward ourselves too often with major holidays or luxury. But a small thing to add happiness to our home and our hearts is the ideal way to brighten up any day, no matter how stressful or bad it was. Here are five ideas to reward ourselves.

1. The Zoza blanket is handwoven in Ethiopia and adds colour and texture to your bed or sofa.

2. These coasters are so artsy, I would use them as decoration. Found them on Pretty Dandy.

3. I love the nautical touch to this canvas laundry bag. Ideal for white rooms and maritime fans. Seen on Ebury Home & Garden.

4. The coloured clay cups by Dawn Vachon would spice up every breakfast setting. In love!

5. The upcoming Sarjaton collection by Iittala is something I am eagerly waiting for. These tumblers are sublime - solid and delicate at the same time. Available as of September 2012.

Happy hump day!

Show Me Your Cushion...

...and I'll tell you who you are. Well, it is a funny assumption to reveal the personality of a person according to her or his cushion picks.

Do you love unpretentious cushions in natural hues? Or do you fall for chunky, textured pieces? Bold patterned? Handwoven? Ethnic? Graphic? Colourful and playful? The selection is abounding and the choice can be rather tough. Luckily, cushions are the little pieces that are ideal for a seasonal or personal decoration change - after all you won't through out your sofa due to a deco maniac attack, right? With cushions you can add pop of colour to monochrome interiors, textures to sleek furniture or patterns to single-hued rooms. So who are you? A worldly explorer? A fiesta fan? A flower child or a daydreamer? Tell me, I am your 'cushion whisperer':-)

Today's Craving

Despite the beginning of a new, busy week, despite twelve hours in the office, despite a rather chilly day outside - despite all of that, I feel content, easy-going and yes, happy. It took just a few little things. A cup of green tea with aloe, some inspiring blog reading, a bit of pinning fun on Pinterest and writing this blog post. Today I am craving a sleek and urban style - I am looking at my black and white chevron rug and nod. Yes, I like it! Happy Tuesday!

Ideas For A Happy Weekend

At the beginning of this week, I brought a few interiors magazine back home from Sweden and blogged about them here. One of the trending decoration topics I've spotted were kilims. As rugs or as cushions - they seem to be everywhere these days. Since I have a soft spot for ethnic inspired knick-knack I am a serious 'victim' of the kilim obsession. So this weekend I will have a look around and try to find a few nice kilim pillows for my sofa or bed. Do you have kilim cushions? Do you know good sources? No matter what you're up to this weekend, have a happy one, friends!

5 Happy Inspirations: Cosy Fellows

After all the feasting and celebrating during the past weeks, I love to cocoon in my little apartment during the first days of the new year. These days I love to stay in, light a scented candle, read a new book, watch a DVD, blog on my sofa or in my bed and surround myself with lots of cosy fellows - cushions and pillows. And I admit, I have a soft spot for them and maybe too many at home. But then, can you have too many cosy fellows? Here are a few recently spotted beauties that I am flirting with.

1. This amazing huge pillow by young and aspiring Finish textile designers Saana ja Olli (an adorable couple) is part of their new Yö Metsässä (Night in the Forest) and is made of eco-friendly European hemp and is produced locally in Finland.

2. These new linen cushions of H&M Home's Spring/Summer 2012 collection are absolutely meeting my current craving for tactile materials and neutral colours.

3. This handprinted cushion with its floral understatement is made by the creative Swedish trio behind the brand HAPPYsthlm.

4. To be honest, I hardly ever leave a Ikea store without buying a cushion. Next time, I might go for this embroidered beauty, the Birgit cushion.

5. Minimoderns is always a safe source for style and quirky design. I already cuddle with their Whitby cushion and love these two fellows too, the Pavilion and Festival cushion.

Happy hump day, friends!

H&M Home Lookbook: Spring/Summer 2012

Today it was snowing for the first time in Munich. And I was happy like a little kid. Christmas is approaching, the whole city is in festive mood with fairy lights all around. However, today I'd like to offer a little sneak peek into the coming spring/summer season. To be precise: I'd like to show you the spring/summer 2012 lookbook of H&M Home

Ever since H&M launched their home collection I was a regular and recurring customer. If you ever happen to come to Munich, feel free to drop by for a cup of tea or coffee and you will see cushions, tea towels, bath mats, bath towels, bed linens, place mats from H&M Home. Now I am very excited and looking forward to their spring/summer 2012 collection. The lookbook is very promising: The collection encompasses colourful florals and fruit prints, graphic patterns, and mud coloured linens. As usual, H&M Home pays attention to details with frills, flounces, embroidery on cushions and bed covers. Have a look and judge for yourself!
